Going Solo
If you are single, you should still consider going on fabulous vacations. Many singles feel as though it would be awkward to vacation alone, but in all actuality, it can be very fun and rewarding. From a relaxing long weekend at the beach to a adventure-filled trip to New York City, going solo sometimes leads to the best vacations of all.
When you are going solo, it is first and foremost important to stay safe. This is an especially important thing to remember if you are a woman. There are lots of people willing to take advantage of singles. Find a friend back home who you can call every night when you are safe and home at your hotel to check in and offer to do the same for your friend when he or she goes on vacation. Don’t forget to call! If you are street smart, you shouldn’t have to worry about being unsafe, even in a big city situation.
In fact, there are many vacations that give you the opportunity to meet other singles in a safe environment. For example, a variety of resorts, some of which are all-inclusive, cater especially to the singles crowd. Here, bartenders and other staff members know that most of the people there are single and will keep and extra eye on things to make sure everyone is safe. When going solo, consider one of these resorts—they are usually more fun than a regular vacation.
Not every solo vacation has to be about meeting others, however. You can also get a great deal on a travel package and see the world with yourself. Sometimes, this is one of the best options, because you get to do exactly what you want to do without worrying about pleasing another traveler or being responsible for children. If this sounds like a great escape for you, consider going solo on your next vacation, even if you are married with children or have friends that would like to travel as well.
